bioPmed is the new Italian innovation cluster dedicated to bio and medical technologies created thanks to the intervention of Regione Piemonte. It gathers about 80 companies, research centres and three academic institutions (Università di Torino, Università del Piemonte Orientale and Politecnico di Torino), who signed an agreement to create, build, support and animate the local cluster.

The initiative is led by Bioindustry Park Silvano Fumero, the local science & technology park founded in 1998 which, since its creation worked as system integrator for the development of Life Sciences in the region.

In coherence with the European Union recommendations, bioPmed works to stimulate innovative activity by promoting intensive interactions, sharing of facilities and exchange of knowledge and expertise and by contributing effectively to technology transfer, networking and information dissemination among the undertakings in the cluster.

The bioPmed Cluster attended the event "Innovators JAM 2011", which took place on September 13-14, 2011.

In 2010, bioPmed was chosen by the Ministry of Public Administration and Innovation as “organisational innovation” in the frame of "L’Italia degli Innovatori". This Italian scheme was aimed at giving visibility to lesser known inventions and innovations, the fruit of Italian genius and inventiveness, that were presented on a dedicated web portal of the magazine  “Wired”, and displayed in a multimedia exhibition in the Italian pavilion at World Expo 2010 in Shanghai (China).
